About Haselbury Plucknett
Haselbury Plucknett is a village on the River Parrett located between Crewkerne and Yeovil, in the heart of the picturesque South Somerset Countryside. The A3066 is the main road which runs through the village.
The origins of Haselbury Plucknett as a settlement and Saxon Manor can be traced back over a thousand years. The village was a once within an area where the growing of hazel was a main stay crop and source of income of local people and the medieval landowners. The name Haselbury Plucknett is formed from ancient meaning for a place where hazel was grown, with the second part coming from the name of the Norman Knight, Alan de Plugenet.
Today, Hasebury Plucknett is a busy and vibrant village of 744 people . The village boasts an Ofsted ‘Good’ rated first school, a thriving village pub The White Horse serving fine ales with an established reputation for its excellent menu and hospitality. Haselbury Mill is situated west of the village, just off the A30, and makes an ideal venue for larger events, functions or weddings, and boasts a traditional style tithe barn function suite. Glebe House offers accredited en suite bed & breakfast. Haselbury Plucknett is also the home of the world famous Ariel Atom motor car.
